Apple Stuffing

Enough stuffing to dress at 15 pound (7.5 kg) turkey, with little left over that can be baked in a separate dish beside the turkey during the last 40 minutes of cooking.

Prepare

  • 4 cups chopped onions

Drop them into

  • 6 cups boiling, salted water

Simmer for 10 minutes, drain then add:

  • 12 cups bread, torn into small pieces
  • 3 apples, chopped
  • 3 ribs celery, chopped
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 cups butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons sage
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
